Beskrivning / POPY TRADE Vegetable Glycerin VG E422 99,5%

The POPY TRADE Vegetable Glycerin VG E422 at 99.5% purity is the ultra-pure, food-grade base for anyone who wants to work in the kitchen, when baking or when mixing their own creations with pure raw materials. As a fluid sugar alcohol (glycerol) derived from plant oils, it is neutral in taste to slightly sweet, highly viscous and humectant — exactly the ingredient that keeps baked goods moist, stabilises creams and gives syrups and beverages a smooth texture. Supplied in a 100 ml bottle, at pharmaceutical purity (Ph. Eur. / USP), vegan and available from our German warehouse.

Vegetable Glycerin VG E422 — Pure Substance in Food Quality

Glycerin (glycerol) is a trivalent sugar alcohol with the E number E422. The POPY TRADE VG comes exclusively from plant oils, so it is 100% plant-based and vegan — no animal fat as a starting material. At 99.5% purity it meets the Ph. Eur. / USP specification. The fluid is colourless, syrup-like in viscosity and tastes almost neutral with a light sweet note. These very properties make it a popular raw material for humectancy, flavour rounding and texture — without masking the character of your ingredients or flavours.

Applications at a Glance

Vegetable glycerin is used in foods and beverages (humectancy, texture, syrup concentrate, baked goods, desserts), as a carrier for flavours, in cosmetics and personal care (e.g. homemade creams and soaps) as well as in pharmacy. When blended with POPY TRADE aromas it rounds off the mouthfeel and gives your creations a smooth body. Practical tip for mixability: since glycerin is very viscous, it pays to warm the required amount to a max of 40°C before dosing — then it can be measured precisely and distributes evenly. Who Is It For?

Hobby bakers, dessert fans, DIY enthusiasts and anyone who values pure raw materials with proven purity. Whether for moisture in baked goods, as a humectant in candies and gummies, to optimise a syrup base or as an addition to vegan recipes — the 100 ml bottle goes a long way. Those who need larger quantities for regular batches will find the right bigger size in the POPY TRADE 700 ml Glycerin variant. Everything ships from our German warehouse with short delivery routes.

Ingredients & Quality

The product consists of 100% plant-based glycerin (glycerol) — no additives, no fillers. The 99.5% purity is at pharmaceutical level (Ph. Eur. / USP), making it a reliable raw material for demanding applications. The EU Food Information Regulation (FIC) is observed; no animal-derived components are contained. The light-protective packaging preserves stability and purity over the long term. Since glycerin is hygroscopic, simply seal it well after use — your stock will then stay stable for many months to years when stored cool and dry at 15–25°C.

Practical Check: Blending Glycerin & Flavours

Here is how it works in everyday use: take your mixing base, add the required amount of warmed vegetable glycerin and then add your favourite aroma — such as our Shake & Enjoy Strawberry & Kiwi Aroma. The VG rounds off the mouthfeel, makes the texture smoother and rounds out the flavour without distorting the fruity note. Practical tip: warm the base first, then work in the glycerin, and add the aroma last — this prevents clumping. Shelf life: store cool, dry and protected from light and seal firmly after each use, because glycerin draws moisture from the air. For questions about the right mixing ratio, our Flavour Calculator will help.

FAQ

What is the difference between Vegetable Glycerin VG E422 and Propylene Glycol PG?

Vegetable glycerin (VG, E422) is obtained from plant oils, is almost neutral in taste with a slightly sweet note and is strongly humectant. Propylene glycol (PG, E1520) is a synthetically produced alcohol with a slightly sweet taste that flows more freely and dissolves flavours particularly well. Both are approved food additives. At popytrade both are used exclusively in food enhancement — in baking, in desserts and when mixing your own flavour creations.

How should I store Vegetable Glycerin VG E422 99.5% correctly?

Store cool, dry, protected from light and at room temperature (15–25°C). Glycerin is hygroscopic, meaning it draws moisture from the surrounding air — so seal the cap firmly after every use. Under these conditions the quality stays stable for many months to years. For processing you can warm it to a max of 40°C if needed so it is less viscous and can be dosed more precisely.

Can I use Glycerin E422 for vegan and vegetarian recipes?

Yes. Our vegetable glycerin is obtained from plant-based raw materials and contains no animal-derived components — it is therefore 100% suitable for vegan and vegetarian use. Glycerin (also known as glycerol or propane-1,2,3-triol) works well as a humectant in vegan candies, plant-based desserts, syrup concentrate and your own flavour blends. Unlike some other glycerins whose origin cannot be recognised from the ingredient list, our raw material base is clearly plant-based.
